FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN VISUAL FORM

Originally serving as a way for me to document my MFA, this blog lives on and serves as a   warehouse for figurative language in visual form. Metaphor, analogy, euphemism, bring them on.

Changes to format and subtle layout details. Revised details in the face and especially the shading.

Elvis has left the building. V2

Inside the doorway, the arms are much less "zombie like" and the illusion of a crowd is suggested. I've also improved depth with the background by adding the moon and stars. It seemed only fitting that Elvis would have stars! Other minor changes involve the man reaching through the doorway and also fixing some lighting issues.

1. A process book that shows sketches and final works.
I am building this on Lulu.com or Blurb.com I hope to finalize changes to illustrations and have a functional "dummy" book for review soon.

2. A web-based gallery/website that documents the work.
The framework is nearly complete. The first rough is available here: http://jimhoward.name/

3. I've submitted the illustrations for exhibition in a solo show. I will learn whether my work has been accepted on 9/1/09. Even if the work is not accepted, I plan to do a mock-up of what I think the space would look like.
