FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN VISUAL FORM

Originally serving as a way for me to document my MFA, this blog lives on and serves as a   warehouse for figurative language in visual form. Metaphor, analogy, euphemism, bring them on.

MENTAL ANGUISH
I was happy that I was finally on track until our last conversation. With the opportunity to do anything I feel a bit lost again. The freedom to create a work or works that break the mold is an incredible oppurtunity. The problem is though that I feel like I’m driving in Boston Masssachusets right now--many roads, many sights and sounds, many possibilities, but no sense of direction. I’ve contacted friends and driven my wife crazy. The more I research and the more I discuss, the more opportunities abound.
QUESTIONING
I keep going back to some of the questions from one of our first conference calls: What does this have to do with Graphic Design? What impact will my work have on the field? What form will my final visual take?

VISUAL
Some of the scans involve possible visions for the final show. One and two represent different concepts--neither of which that I like. The third goes back to the idea of a book. Communication, whether visual or written, just makes sense as a book.

Mike, your latest suggestion of questionging the final form of my book is very welcome. The interaction and presentation could be quite dynamic.

THUMBS
My early thumbnails are rough. I need some more time to consider composition for most. I also think that a smart next step for me would be to work on refining one to near final form instead of trying to work on a few at a time.

NEXT STEPS
I’d like to have some time to work through one of my concepts.
