Originally serving as a way for me to document my MFA, this blog lives on and serves as a   warehouse for figurative language in visual form. Metaphor, analogy, euphemism, bring them on.

I did some planning over lunch today. One idea caused a spark and I spent a few moments to try and sketch it. This may be the next illustration that I work through for next week.

Off his rocker V1

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

There are parts of this one that I really like, but it still doesn't feel complete. I can't seem to capture the same expression as my original sketch. I need some feedback on this one.

It cost him an arm and a leg V1

A late addition. This time, an idiom. This marks the fourth work in four weeks. I have met the original deadline that I set back in early January. I like this piece, but feel like it's missing something. I don't know if I need to crop more/reposition/or remake.

Add Fuel to the fire V_2

Added some details to the gas can. Altered the lighting to reflect the time of night and the affect of the fuel on the fire. Applied texture to the background. Applied lighting to foreground to help create movement to and from the off-canvas fire.

It's raining cats and dogs v_2

Version 2. Added texture to give the work and more traditional-media feel. Created better vertical movement by altering the height of the document and altering the background contrast and lines. Other minor changes.
